Our Impact

How Goodwill is changing our community.

When people hear how about the ways that Goodwill of the Finger Lakes helps each community served, they inevitably have the same reaction:

“I had no idea.”

Here are a few of the ways that Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is making a difference:

ABVIGoodwill stores and donation centers in Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Livingston counties provide funds that support vision rehabilitation, job training and employment opportunities for the blind and visually impaired through the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Contact Center: Goodwill of the Finger Lakes runs a state-of-the-art, LEED GOLD-certified inbound and outbound call center.   The contact center answers calls for 1-800-Goodwill, Federal, State and private businesses.

2-1-1 LifelineGoodwill of the Finger Lakes funds and manages the 211 Lifeline Finger Lakes call center in 12 counties.  2-1-1 Lifeline is a free telephone and web-based counseling service that helps people get the help they need, like emergency food, shelter, clothing and crisis counseling.

Food Service and Catering:  Goodwill of the Finger Lakes' Food Service and Hospitality Team prepares and delivers thousands of hot meals, boxed lunches and snacks to senior centers and child day care providers throughout Monroe County.  Goodwill of the Finger Lakes also offers training and job opportunities to people taking part in the County’s Welfare to Work and Work in Lieu of Incarceration programs.

Livingston Youth Center Collaboration: The Goodwill Community Room attached to the store and donation center in Geneseo, NY provides a venue for the Livingston County Youth Center to provide programs to area teens and tweens in a safe and substance-free environment.

The real miracle isn’t in our facilities or our stores. It is in the lives of people, who are now able to have jobs, support families and contribute to their communities.  And we are looking forward to doing more.

We will be working over the months and years ahead to add donation centers, retail stores and expand our mission-based services within our 20-county territory.

We will be conducting community needs assessments to understand how we can better serve and become part of the fabric of each community to make a difference and provide job opportunities.
