Registration is required for participation in all ABVI recreational programming. To register for any of the following events, please contact Recreation Coordinator, JoAnn Vaccaro, at (585) 327-5520.


What: A once monthly book club that engages in thought provoking discussions about the book of the month. The Page-turner's book club accepts members on an ongoing basis. Please call about transportation options, book titles, and assistance with obtaining audio books.
When: The club meets the first Monday of each month from 10:00 – 11:30 AM
Where: Colie’s Sidewalk Café, 657 Park Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607

What: This lively over 60 club meets monthly for a lunch and special program. The WAMS group has some of the original members that started the group over 30 years ago! The special programs include health and wellness, music, community resource presentations, games and much more!
When: The second Wednesday of every month from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Where: ABVI, 422 South Clinton Avenue, Rochester
Cost: Lunch is a senior center meal provided by Goodwill of the Finger Lakes' Food Service Team (suggested donation $2.50).

The M.I.N.D series are informational sessions held on the third Tuesday of the month at ABVI.


What: Storytelling is as old as mankind, and everyone is a storyteller. Join storyteller and actress, Fran Carlisii-Paxon as she outlines universal story themes and will use stories to show us how we are all connected. The presenter may ask you to be a part of the story telling process during this presentation.
When: Tuesday, September 18, 2012, 12:30 – 1:30 PM

What: Learn things about Rochester you never knew while taking a motor coach tour given by Warren Kling, a Rochester native, local historian, and author of a best-selling local history book entitled America's First Boomtown - Rochester, NY. This nostalgic trip will take you back to a time when downtown Rochester was a wonderful place to shop with great department stores like Sibley’s, Edward’s, McCurdy’s & Forman’s. Hear tales of Rochester’s historic landmarks. Listen to stories that will amuse native Rochesterians or short time residents, and bring back wonderful memories of bygone days. Optional pizza lunch at ABVI prior to tour.
When: Friday, September 21, 2012. Lunch will be served from 12:30 – 1:30 PM at ABVI. The bus will board from ABVI at 1:30 PM and will return to ABVI between 3:30 and 4:00 PM.
Where: ABVI, 422 South Clinton Ave, then a motor coach tour of downtown Rochester.
Cost: $5 for the motor coach tour, $3 for optional pizza lunch. If needed, transportation to and from ABVI is available for $10.

What: Design your very own keepsake box. Use air drying clay to texture your wooden box. Add your unique design to the clay by using beads, buttons and tiles. Choose from an array of colors to paint your box.
When: Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Where: ABVI, 422 South Clinton Ave, Rochester, NY 14620
Cost: $5 for supplies to design your box. If needed, transportation is available for $10.
