Good Design Is Sustainable Design:
Repurposing and Upcycling with Goodwill!

For Back to School Shopping, a few local high school students visited our Goodwill stores to find on-trend outfits to wear.  One particular student was specifically looking for styles he could us to upcycle and artistically style.

Meet Nassor.  Nassor is 15 years old, with an interest in art and fashion design.  From visiting a few stores on a Sunday (and of course hitting up our $1 Sunday sale!) Nassor was able to upcycle and repurpose fashion finds from Goodwill for his unique back-to-school look.

Nassor has a unique eye for fashion, and he was able to put together the following looks.  One thing is for sure - by shopping at Goodwill and putting together his own vision, Nassor definitely had his own style amongst his fellow students!  Goodwill provides the opportunity to grab those unique items that no one else has, and to make them your own.

Some of Nassor's Style:

  •  He upcycled an oversized blazer (above) and created a heart print on the back from a scarf he found in our stores
  •  He took the I Heart Goodwill shirt and wove string throughout it to give the unique look seen here below
  •  He wrapped a vintage scarf around his shoulders for an accent piece, and also around his waist paired with the patchwork vintage vest
  • He also helped style his sister in her own unique look!

No matter who you're shopping for - Goodwill is a great place to find unique styles, vintage, trendy, and more.  We can't wait to see what future looks Nassor pulls together from Goodwill finds! Find your own secondhand pieces to start upcycling at any of our stores.
