Meet our Team: Sekou Stewart

by Carolann Verrioli

Sekou Stewart: Crisis Community Connector

Title and years with the organization?

Crisis Community Connector. I’m in my 6th year here at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes.

What do you enjoy most about working at 211/LIFE LINE?

I’m happy to have a great team to work with. It feels good knowing that I put a smile on someone’s face during a call (I can tell 😊). It is a joy when I’m connected to a caller and their reaction is better than when they first called.

I always say to myself, “be the person that makes others feel good about themselves and included.”

What activities do you enjoy in your free time?

I’m a father of 3 adorable girls and I spend a lot of time with them. Other than that, I eat, sleep, dream of, watch, and play referee soccer 😊.

Why is mental health awareness important?

Mental Health affects every aspect of our health. This includes our psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Without an overall wellness in our health, we cannot truly function at our best. Mental health awareness helps us to see our need and ask for help. We want to be able to help ourselves positively and effectively relate to others.
