Swellar Zhuo (she/her): Community Engagement Coordinator
Title and time you have been with the organization:
I am the Community Engagement Coordinator and I started working for Goodwill in April 2022.
What is your role here at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes?
I provide administrative and support service for the Community Engagement department. This includes updating donor information, issuing acknowledgement letters and developing report. When I am not at my desk, I assist in various in-person projects, programs and special events in support of our engagement activities.
What do you enjoy most about working at Goodwill?
There are many things that I enjoy about working at Goodwill, but if I had to pick one, it would be working with the Community Engagement team. I really enjoy the diversity of our staff. It is truly special to be able to work with colleagues from different backgrounds. We all bring something unique to the table. As a result, I find myself constantly learning and expanding my perspective.
What activities do you enjoy in your free time?/What is a fun fact about yourself?
I enjoy gardening in my free time. I started this hobby during the beginning of the pandemic with a couple of tomatoes plants and basil. Now, I am growing different medicinal herbs, peppers, lettuce and strawberries. There is something really cathartic about tending/caring for a living thing and watching it grow. The best part is being able to enjoy and share the vegetables/fruits of my labor. When I am not working at the garden, I am making botanic-inspired jewelry. My fun fact is that I run a small business named Sesame Girl Shop. You might find me at your next outdoor, craft market. If so, please always feel free to come up and say hi.
