Goodwill & ARTISANworks Join Forces

Dec 18, 2014

ROCHESTERGoodwill of the Finger Lakes announced their partnership today with fellow Rochester nonprofit ARTISANworks. Leaders for both organizations said that the goal of the partnership is to leverage the core competencies of each organization to create jobs and support local artists.

The creative collaboration will offer original art for purchase by the public at discounted prices through Goodwill’s ecommerce storefront. The resulting outcome will be increased visibility of work created by local artists through ARTISANworks and increased funding of job training and job placement programs offered by Goodwill.

“We are excited to announce this partnership with ARTISANworks to share art with the community while supporting local artists and creating jobs,” said Gidget Hopf, President and CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “With each art purchase, we generate economic opportunities and provide skills training to people, empowering them to overcome barriers to independence.”

ARTISANworks is committed to its support of the local creative community and relies on sales of art to advance the organization’s mission. Partnering with Goodwill provides an additional avenue to reach potential art buyers who want to make a difference in the lives of others throughout the Rochester community.

“We are thrilled about this opportunity to partner with Goodwill. The collaboration helps to support our local artists, create jobs, and continue as a self-funding nonprofit organization, said Louis Perticone, Founder of ARTISANworks. “Ultimately, we hope to work with Goodwill and estate planners to acquire high level items to help fund both organizations.”
