Have a Unique Cyber Monday – Shop Goodwill

Nov 26, 2014

Rochester, N.Y. – Retail trend watchers at Shop.org peg the growth of online shopping this holiday season to be between 8 and 11 percent. Spending is forecast to be around $105 billion, with Cyber Monday (December 2) slated to be one of the biggest ever.

“Everyone will be shopping for the ‘must-have’ deals. But what about those people who are seeking the unique, vintage, classic holiday gift,” says Mary Boland, Director of Communications and Community Relations at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “Those people can find the treasure they’re looking for on one of our three online storefronts this holiday season.”

Boland says that most people are familiar with the brick and mortar Goodwill stores. There are 11 in the Greater Rochester area and one in Syracuse. But, she notes, not everyone is aware that Goodwill also has an e-commerce arm that sells some of the most unique items around.

“We have three storefronts. An Amazon shop and an eBay shop that sell used books in top condition. Then we also have an auction site on the ShopGoodwill.com platform that is the place to go for unique and rare collectibles, vintage holiday decorations, glass ornaments, and so much more,” says Boland.

Shoppers to ShopGoodwill.com can bid on any of the thousands of items Goodwill of the Finger Lakes has listed for sale at any given time. In addition to those that Boland mentions, items including jewelry, handbags, shirts, artwork, musical instruments, electronics, toys, and much more can be bid on. There is no fee to sign up or bid on items on ShopGoodwill.com.

“The people that work behind the scenes in our e-commerce area listing these items are those that the sale of the items support. They are people who have overcome barriers and found employment with us,” says Boland. “That’s why shopping and buying from our Amazon, eBay, ShopGoodwill.com stores this holiday season means so much. You are making a real difference in the lives of people that live and work in our community.”
