Industrial Cutting Equipment Arrives at Goodwill
On Friday August 12, 2022, we received new Industrial Cutting Equipment from Eastman Machine Company located in Buffalo, NY. This new technology will help us expand our Sewing Department by giving us the opportunity to increase production, introduce new products to our repertoire, and hire at least 12 new employees.
Along with other products, our Sewing Department produces uniforms for the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard right here on our main campus! Many of our employees are blind, visually impaired, or have other barriers to employment.
Getting the new sewing equipment into the building was no easy feat! While smaller pieces were brought to the sewing area - which is located on the second floor of the building - by the freight elevator, the largest and heaviest pieces had to be brought in by crane! For everyone's safety, the areas nearby were closed off. Luckily, everything went smoothly and we were able to get the equipment into the building safely.
