What is your current job at Goodwill?
In this role, I have the honor to lead our People Resources and Loss Prevention teams. These teams support the employees of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes with a myriad of things including benefits, safety, employee programs and communication, learning and leadership development to name a few.
What do you value most about working at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes?
I have been here for over 16 years! I've experienced five careers in that time, starting in our ABVI services helping people who are blind to reach their education and career goals, then eight years managing our Contact Center. This was then followed by leading efforts in a youth mentoring program to overseeing our learning and development for the organization which brought me to my current role in the People Resources management and leadership development. It's been a journey!
Why would you encourage others to consider working with the team at Goodwill?
I take any opportunity to encourage others to drive their own career, and Goodwill gives many job opportunities for that for those who work hard and enjoy being part of a bigger purpose. And like me, others may discover their passion along the way.
One of the things I like most about being part of Goodwill is our strong sense of values. I have two favorites, Development and Culture – development, as I have talked about it's all about growing and learning. The other, culture is about our culture of learning, caring, creativity and fun. The other reason I really like working at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is that as a mission-driven organization, everyone, each and every team member, contributes to a greater good - our own communities. We cannot serve thousands of people each year without the contribution of our entire team. So on the good days and the hard days at work, I can stop and think about the positive impact I am making.
