GOODWILL CALLING UPON COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO MAKE FACE MASKS –
OVER 50,000 MASKS NEEDED FOR ROCHESTER & FINGER LAKES NONPROFIT STAFF AND CLIENTS
Rochester, NY – (April 6, 2020) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Monroe County Department of Health recommend wearing cloth face masks in public settings to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Nonprofit organizations throughout our region are working to keep their staff and clients healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic and they desperately need face masks.
Please make and then donate homemade face masks to area Goodwill locations as soon as possible. Then United Way will distribute them to local nonprofits for their staff and clients by using Goodwill’s trucks and drivers. Goodwill is providing a contactless donation experience to maintain social distancing Sunday-Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. It’s simple – drive up, unload the masks right into a bin and then drive off.
“We are honored to partner with Monroe County and the United Way to support our community during the COVID-19 crisis. We have a long history of collecting donations and will use our expertise to ensure local nonprofits get these masks as soon as possible,” said Jennifer Lake, President of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. The masks will be held in a quarantine period prior to distribution.
