ABVI Celebrates 30 Years with 3M

Oct 16, 2020

This year marks the 30th anniversary of a partnership between 3M and our mission program ABVI, the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Launched in 1990, the partnership was a first for an NIB (National Institute for the Blind) associated agency and a private company. Over the past 30 years, our organization has produced millions of yellow note stick pads, and over 37 other products including easel pads, flags, page markers and more.  The packaging reads "created by Americans who are blind using quality 3M materials" - all for usage by the federal government.

Because of the partnership, hundreds of job opportunities became available right at our downtown agency headquarters for those with visual impairment.  The partnership has changed the lives of so many, propelling our mission statement of providing empowerment and opportunities to those with barriers.

All production happens at our agency headquarters at 420 South Clinton Avenue in Rochester.  To learn more visit our Manufacturing page.
