Get ready to ROC the Day with Goodwill on 12.12.12

Dec 3, 2012

ROCHESTER, NY – There are three steps to being a ROC star this year – Choose. Give. Matter. Do all three on December 12, 2012 (12.12.12) and you’ll ROC the Day.

Sounds awesome, right? Sure does. And Goodwill of the Finger Lakes wants you to know that we are one of the ROC’N organizations participating this year. And we’re ready to ROC the Day with you.

Here’s the information you need to know:

  • ROC the Day is a 24-hour, online event that gives people in our community an opportunity to support all of the not-for-profit organizations doing great work in the nine-county Greater Rochester area. People will visit ROCtheDay.org, a secure online giving platform, to make a gift. All money given on 12.12.12 will help local people and organizations.
  • ROC the Day Donors (or ROCstars) can make a real difference by giving to one or multiple organizations to support their personal philanthropic passions on 12.12.12. ROC the Day will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 and end at 11:59 p.m.
  • ROC the Day for Goodwill of the Finger Lakes by logging on to our official ROC the Day page at: http://roctheday.org/GoodwilloftheFingerLakes

Why choosing to give during ROC the Day matters:

  • During ROC the Day 2011 this community raised more than $567,000 with the help of 6,600 ROCstar donors. There were nearly 700 not-for-profits registered.

As a special bonus, every hour throughout ROC the Day will feature a ROC star donor chosen to receive an additional $500 added to their gift for the non-profit of their choice. Community members are encouraged to sign up via email to receive a reminder about the event and their opportunity to “choose, give and matter.”

ROC the Day is powered by United Way of Greater Rochester with sponsorship support from ESL Federal Credit Union. Additional ROC the Day community partners include Ad Council of Rochester, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Genesee Valley Chapter, City of Rochester, Council of Agency Executives, County of Monroe, The Farash Foundation, Greater Rochester Health Foundation, The Jewish Federation, RocCity Coalition and Rochester Area Community Foundation.
