Goodwill of the Finger Lakes hosted its annual “Sustainability Under the Stars” event on September 12 at The Highline Rochester. Guests gathered around the runway to see sustainable fashion featuring upcycled and curated designs by local talent.
Designers Danae Alarcón, Monicke Allyene, Nathaniel Johnson, Chloe Schnell, and Connor Sokal and Markas Kates each presented four to five original looks in the fashion show. Pieces incorporated into each look were sourced from Goodwill stores across the region and reimagined for the runway.
Emcee Jasmin Singer brought sharp wit and infectious energy, while DJ Delano Fuertado kept the vibe going with a great house set.
The event highlights Goodwill’s commitment to sustainability and circularity. Last year, the organization kept 28.8 million pounds of goods in circulation. Thanks to this year’s Sustainability Under the Stars sponsors, Smola Consulting and 13WHAM, fabulous examples of Goodwill’s impact were showcased.
